Road to Russia 2018: Morocco returns to World Cup after 20 years

The Atlas Lions of Morocco will have the chance to roar again a day after the official opening of the upcoming World Cup in Russia. Their first game against Iran is on June 15 in St. Petersburg. But it has been a long wait to line up again at the FIFA World Cup, the last time Moroccan fans saw their team at the competition was 20 years ago in France 1998. Kenyan authorities will investigate 10 financial institutions suspected of handling funds that were stolen from the government’s National Youth Service ( NYS ), the director of criminal investigations confirmed on Thursday. 'Stop fighting by June 30 or face sanctions': US proposal on S. Sudan conflict

The UN Security Council is set to vote on a draft resolution presented by the United States that would give warring sides in South Sudan until June 30 to end fighting or face possible sanctions. The proposed measure, which was seen by AFP , lists South Sudan’s defense minister among six officials who could be put on a UN sanctions blacklist if the sides fail to reach a peace deal. The draft resolution would require UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to report by June 30 whether fighting has stopped and whether the sides have “come to a viable political agreement.” We have no more time to waste on empty promises. If not, the council “shall consider” imposing the sanctions and possibly an arms embargo within five days, according to the draft resolution. There was pandemonium earlier today after angry crowd attacked officers of the Nigeria Customs Service and burnt their vehicles in the process in Akwa Ibom state. An eyewitness account reveals that Customs officers at Uya Oro junction, Oron, allegedly shot the tyres of vehicle carrying rice upon the driver's refusal to stop for check. Diners at a popular restaurant in a Malaysian tourist hotspot were horrified to discover their dishes were washed in a puddle on the street. A video which surfaced online showed staff from Raj's Banana Leaf restaurant squatting over a pothole on the street, scrubbing and rinsing food trays with the dirty water. 'They do not have proper washing facilities behind the kitchen,' he said.However, the restaurant passed health checks with an A- rating and 'cleanliness checks showed that the restaurant was in good condition' Mr Patel confirmed. It remains unclear how the popular restaurant passed cleanliness checks without proper washing facilities in the kitchen. Health authorities were forced to shut the restaurant down indefinitely after finding there were no adequate washing facilities. 28 OIL WORKERS TRAPPED, 100 RESCUED IN CONOIL FIRE ACCIDENT IN BAYELSA

Investigations have revealed that 28 oil workers were still trapped on the ConOil platform in Koluama 1 community of Southern Ijaw in Bayelsa State, after it was engulfed by fire on Saturday morning. No less than 100 oil workers were confirmed rescued yesterday. The fire, which was confirmed by the Joint Military Task Force in the Niger Delta , codenamed Operation Delta Safe, started around 5am on Saturday and has blew up the oil platform and razed down the residential area of oil workers. The rescued workers have been flown to Port Harcourt on Rivers. While the others are still trapped in their residence with fire fighters and locals battling to put off the fire and save the helipad. ECOWAS Parliament has appealed to Nigeria to put measures in place to address the issues surrounding insurgency in the Northeast. Chairman, ECOWAS Parliament delegation to Northeast Nigeria, Mr Ibrahim Sadiq, made the appeal when he presented the report on the fact finding mission to the region. The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has refuted the report that candidates for the Police recruitment 2018 exercise wrote an examination in Arabic. Spokesperson of the exam body, Dr. Fabian, on Saturday said that JAMB examined the candidates in the English Language only, and that no one wrote examinations in any other subject or language. Fabian explained that JAMB generally examines candidates in 23 subjects which are listed alphabetically in its computer-based module, and that Arabic is one of the four subjects in the alphabetical categorisations.
